FAQ'S

NDIS is a government-funded program that provides support and services to individuals with disabilities to help them lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

To determine your eligibility for NDIS funding, you need to complete an access request form and undergo an assessment by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The assessment will then consider your disability, its impact on your life and your support needs.

Eligibility for NDIS is based on several factors, including:

  1. Disability Criteria
      a. To be eligible for NDIS, you must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to perform daily activities and participate in the community.
  2. Age
      a. NDIS supports people of all age, but there may be different age-related criteria. For example, children under a certain age might need to meet additional criteria.
  3. Residency
      a. Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
  4. Geographical location
      a. Availability of NDIS services depend on where you live.
  5. Early Intervention
      a. Children under 7 yrs’ old with development delays and disabilities might be eligible for NDIS early intervention services, even if they don’t meet the usual disability requirements.

If you are unsure about your eligibility or have specific questions about your situation, we recommend contacting the NDIA directly or seek assistance from our support coordinator. We will guide you through the process and provide personalised advice based on your circumstances. To get in touch, please fill our form here

You will receive a copy of your NDIS plan from the NDIA once approved. The plan will outline the supports and services you are eligible for.

The plan will summarise your goals and needs as discussed during your plan meeting and will also contain basic information about your plan such as start and end dates.

The plan will also have review dates as to when your plan will be assessed and potentially adjusted to reflect changes in your needs and goals.

There are different ways your NDIS funding can be managed, and you can choose the method that suits you best:

  • NDIA- Managed: the NDIA manages the funds and pays the service providers on your behalf.
  • Self – Managed: you take full control of managing the funds, paying service providers, and keeping record of expenses.
  • Plan-Managed: A registered plan manager handles the financial transactions and pays service providers on your behalf. Please note you still have control over choosing providers.

Note: Regardless of funding management option you choose, you’ll need to keep records of services you receive, and expenses incurred; hence helping with reporting and accountability.

It is important to understand that NDIS funding is intended to empower individuals with disabilities to have greater choice and control over their supports and services.
