In-Home Support and NDIS Participant

In-home support encompasses a wide range of services and assistance that are designed to meet the participant’s needs and goals. The primary goal of in-home support is to enable individuals with disabilities to live as independently as possible while receiving necessary assistance and care to meet their daily requirement.

Below are some examples of in-home support services provided, and not limited to, by an NDIS service provider:

  • Personal care: Assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, toileting and transferring in and out of bed or chairs.
  • Meal Preparation and Nutrition: Support with Meal planning, cooking, and assistance with eating, including dietary and nutrition guidance.
  • Household tasks: helping with cleaning, laundry and ensuring a safe and cleaning living environment.
  • Medication Management: Assistance with organising and administering medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Companionship: providing companionship, social interaction and emotional support to combat social isolation and loneliness.
  • Allied health Services: Access to allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologist for assessments and therapy within home.
  • Respite Care: Temporary relief and support for caregivers to take breaks while ensuring the participant continues to receive care at home.

In-home support can be provided by a support worker, or it can be provided with the help of family or carers.

The type of in-home support that is provided will vary depending on the individual’s needs and goals. For example, some people may need assistance with all their daily living skills, while others may only need assistance with certain tasks.
